LCW has provided Bulb Tees and AASHTO Girders in both New York and Pennsylvania. These girders are used for medium to long span bridges with composite concrete decks. LCW provided the first bulb tee girders manufactured with high performance concrete (HPC) for a NYSDOT project in Tompkins County in 2001. Since that time we have produced New England Bulb Tees, Pennsylvania Bulb Tees, AASHTO girders for bridges throughout New York and Pennsylvania.
L.C. Whitford Materials Co., Inc. has added the NEXT Beam or Northeast Extreme Tee to their product line. The NEXT Beam is a double-tee shape developed by PCI Northeast. The Type D (Deck Beam) is a beam with an integral full-depth flange that acts as the structural bridge deck. This allows the bridge to be ready for traffic soon after the beams are erected. The Type F (Flange Beam) is a beam with a 4” thick flange which serves as the formwork for a conventional cast-in-place reinforced concrete deck. This results in a monolithic deck surface at the expense of a few extra days of site construction.
LCW produces both adjacent box beams and spread box beams for the New York and Pennsylvania markets. Adjacent box beams are placed side by side. Keyways between the beams are grouted and the beams are laterally post tensioned together.
LCW has manufactured prestressed box beams on a curved soffit to create an arch profile which is a strong architectural feature.
